Treadwell 80 Ton Hot Metal Car

This hot metal or bottle car was built by the MH Treadwell Company in Easton, PA for the US Steel Homestead Works. It was used there until replaced by larger cars. At that time it was shipped to the US Steel Ohio Works and used there until that plant closed. Being returned again to Pittsburgh it was subsequently donated to the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation. In 2006 an agreement was made between the PHLF and the Tod Engine Foundation for a long term loan. This car is now being prepared for shipment back to Youngstown where it will be placed on display at the front entrance to the Tod Engine Heritage Park.
